In the evolution of my pottery since 1977, I have used both wheel work and handbuilding to develop aesthetically expressive and functional forms.  The combination of these two aspects of working with clay has strongly appealed to me.

I have studied in New York at Greenwich House Pottery and Columbia University Teacher's College, Craney Hill Pottery in New Hampshire and Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.  Since moving to Maine in 2018 I have worked at Portland Pottery with several teachers.  Currently I take classes for the past 3 years with Brian Buckland, a great mentor, developing form, surface design and use of glazes fired in a gas reduction kiln.

The tradition of Wabi Sabi (embracing imperfection) is a Japanese understanding of creativity that is part of my work.
