As an Associate Member of the Centre St Arts Gallery, LLC (from here known as “the Gallery”), I agree to pay $120 per month for one year by the 25th of each month. The first and last month’s fee will be due upon acceptance of this application.

For this fee, I will earn the right to display from two to five pieces of my art in the Gallery for each exhibition, depending on their size.  All work must be original with no reproductions; and permanently labeled my name, title, and medium.  Art must be ready to hang with a wire or otherwise displayed, in perfect, salable condition with Gallery-provided hanging tags attached as instructed by Gallery Hanging Committee member. 

The Gallery shall receive all monies from sales, including sales tax, and pay the artist the selling price less a commission of no less than 22% and no more than 35%. (The commission percentage is based on the artist’s contribution in time to the Gallery.) The Gallery shall remit sales tax on all sales to  the State of Maine, as required by law.

The Hanging Committee establishes the exhibition schedule with artwork drop-off and reception dates for the year and manages all aspects of installing the show.

While every effort will be made to prevent loss, theft and/or damage, I accept that the Gallery is not liable for any loss or damage of personal property; that artwork is covered by the limited Gallery insurance. I am responsible for obtaining any additional insurance. I accept the potential risk of loss and agree to hold the Gallery harmless and free from any claim or liability from damage to my personal property or artwork.

Artwork on exhibition may not be removed from display, during the showing dates, unless it is sold by the Centre St Arts Gallery, LLC. If you sell an artwork outside of the Gallery which was previously seen by a customer at the Gallery within thirty days of removal from the Gallery, it shall be considered a Gallery sale, and as such will be subject to Gallery commission and State of Maine Sales Tax and should be processed at the Gallery.

I agree to Staff the Gallery on a scheduled basis and perform duties necessary to the running of the Gallery such as attending receptions, attending Member/Associate meetings, working on a committee, and pitching in with tasks as needed.  Associate Members who do not fulfill these obligations may be asked to resign.

I understand that Associate Members in breach of this contract shall not be entitled to any refunds of prior payments, nor will they receive the return of unsold work until the value of the remaining rent is collected through the sale of said work. Any unpaid obligations will be collected through the  sale of remaining artwork, after  which time the artwork will be returned to the artist.

The Gallery will:

·       Promote itself and Owner Members and Associate Member Artists’ artwork through advertising, receptions and participating in community activities such as Art Walks and those sponsored by Main Street Bath and others.

·       Offer events from time to time on the Gallery premises, providing additional opportunities for the public to see Artists’ work.

·       Keep all exhibited artwork balanced, clean, labeled and attractively displayed.

·       Collect information about sales from receipts each month and pay Artists for sale of work minus commission as previously described.

Upon acceptance as an Associate Member, I agree that membership runs for the 12-month Calendar from January 1 through December 31, and that I must renew each year by October 15 or notify the “Owner” Members in writing of my intent to resign, by September 30. 

I have read and accept the above and hereby submit this application for acceptance as Associate Membership in the Centre St Arts Gallery, LLC.
