Artist, Farmer, Landscaper, and Teacher Kate lives on Georgetown Island, Maine enjoying walks in the woods and beaches with her dogs, and goats and the entertaining chickens. Three key events came together for Kate while living in Denver, CO, a graphic design education, an opportunity to apprentice with a woman-operated landscape business and graduating from the Denver Botanic Gardens B.I. Certificate Program Kate took the leap of faith and created her business Plant Manager Studio, LLC, a conglomeration of Art, Design and Landscaping. Every landscaping season in Maine is focused on plants, gardens and making her clients happy with their home gardens. Every winter she can sit down at her drawing table and focus on depicting many of the plants she nourishes in the landscaping season or better yet ones she discovers while traveling. Kate’s chosen medium of colored pencils fulfills her desire to capture the wonderful, fine details of plants layer upon layer and make it seem as if an observer of her painting could pluck the subject right off of the paper. Now a graduate of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh Diploma in B.I., Kate is planning on teaching more colored pencil, botanical and natural history art.
