The Centre Street Arts Gallery LLC (CSAG) is an artist-owned and -operated gallery located in the heart of downtown Bath, Maine, at 11 Centre Street. Twenty member artists work in a variety of styles, from abstract to representational. On display are paintings in oils, watercolors, casein tempera, colored pencil, ink, acrylics and mixed media; sculptures in wood, stone and clay; and handmade books created with handmade paper.

The gallery has been in business since 2012, when 9 founding partners joined together to promote the work of local artists and recruited 11 other artists to broaden and strengthen the gallery’s offerings. Each artist is personally selected for his or her unique style through a rigorous jurying process. Since its first show in December 2012, CSAG has run a new member show at least every two months and sponsored other events for patrons of the arts.

The 24 current artists at CSAG work cooperatively to support the gallery and each other. They encourage each other’s artistic development, exploration and experimentation through constructive critiques and sharing information on art techniques and opportunities. Each artist also contributes time to ensure smooth gallery operations.

The gallery also organizes community events that bring together art forms (such as poetry, music and painting), works with local high schools to encourage youth artistic development, and partners on events with the local business community.
